Criteria for Greeting Card Sales

Individual card sales are being replaced with boxed card sales effective March 1st, 2006. This sales venue is available to artists holding a current SDWS membership only. Below are the detailed instructions and how to's for the packaging process. Good luck on increased sales to all of us!

Submitting greeting cards for sale at the Showcase Gallery:
Packaged sets of boxed cards must be brought in to the gallery on show entry day during the designated entry hours. Each month the Prism Newsletter states the entry day and hours. Any boxed cards not meeting the outlined criteria will not be accepted. Max 4 boxes per member. Please see the color pictures of acceptable presentation at the bottom of this article.

Presentation method:

  1. Make Greeting Cards – either 4-1/4x5-1/2 or 5x7.
  2. Prepare miniature images representing each different card.
    1. From digital files you already have.
    2. By scanning the finished cards.
    3. By taking digital photos of the cards or the art.
  3. Create a Reference Card that shows all the images in the collection.
    1. Using a professional desktop publishing program such as Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress (the best way to do it).
    2. Using an inexpensive desktop publishing program for Windows such as PrintShop or Microsoft Publish.
    3. Using an inexpensive desktop publishing program for Macintosh such as Pages.
    4. Using Microsoft PowerPoint (it actually works quite well)
    5. Using Microsoft Word (can be done, but it is not very easy).
    6. Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (possible, but difficult).
  4. Include the following information on the Reference Card:
    1. Artist’s Name
    2. Name or Number of the Collection
    3. Quantity of Cards in the Collection - be sure to indicate envelopes are included.
    4. Price ($12 minimum + tax)
  5. Put Cards and envelopes together and place in one of the two approved boxes:

  6. Tie with gold stretch cord.
  7. Bring to gallery during Membership Show Entry Day.
