SDWS Gallery is our showcase for artworks done by SDWS members. The gallery is open to the public and artwork is available for sale along with greeting cards and other items.
The San Diego Watercolor Society, as a nonprofit organization, depends on its members to volunteer To help staff the gallery during its hours of operation. Volunteer staff is needed Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm and on special occasions such as the International Show, show openings or participation in other art related events at the gallery.
Monthly Membership Shows Juried member shows are held each month except October when our International
Show is held. Cash awards are given at two of the member shows.

Painting Information Card
Annual International Exhibition This is the main event of the SDWS year, its purpose being to encourage the creation of award winning paintings and to advance the art of painting in waterbased medium on paper. It is open to all artists, nationally and internationally. The International Exhibition is held every October. Details and definitions are the decision of the current SDWS Board and the International Show Chairman. Jurying is done from slides by artists of renown. There is an entry fee and both monetary and material awards are given.
Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibition This is an exhibit presented in San Diego approximately every 10 years. The Federation consists of a number of watercolor organizations west of the Mississippi. Each year one of the groups hosts the Western Federation exhibit in their city. Entry is open to members of the Federation Societies, and is juried by a well known artist. Following the show, some of the paintings are selected for a traveling exhibition to each of the member groups.
