Congressional Art Competition 2022

SDWS is hosting Scott Peters' Congressional Art Competition on Tuesday, May 3 from 3:00-7:00pm. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington DC.

Saturday Demo Paintout with Jami Wright

Jami calls her style of painting “impressionistic realism.” Working quickly and fairly loose she advocates focusing on values, especially lights and darks. She paints from big to small shapes while keeping brushstrokes to a minimum! In the demo Jami will show us QUICK planning for Plein Air. The planning will include-format, focal point, rule of thirds, big shapes, line drawing, value sketches and how to do a thumbnail. Of course being a lifelong teacher she will have a handout!
Directions Take 8 West. Go Left onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd/Nimitz Blvd and then veer onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Take Right onto West Point Loma Blvd and then Right onto Bacon Street. You are at Robb Athletic Field. Park in the Bacon Street parking lot closest to the water channel. The address is 2525 Bacon Street, San Diego.
