To get there: From CA-52 W use the left two lanes to take the La Jolla Pkwy exit for 0.5 miles, continue on La Jolla Pkwy for 2.2 miles, turn right onto Ivanhoe Ave E for 0.1 miles, turn left onto Silverado St for 0.4 miles, turn left on Prospect St for 0.1 miles, make a sharp right onto Curvier St for 400 feet, turn left onto Coast Blvd S for 250 feet, continue straight on Coast Blvd for 150 feet and the partk is on the right. Locate a public street parking spot.

Saturday Demo Paintout

The park is a SWEETHEART location for artist and photo clubs alike. We always have a large paintout group at this location. The Rancho was once owned by actor Leo Carrillo. Come discover the tranquil beauty of this twenty-seven acre canyon. It is loaded with hand-crafted adobe buildings, antique windmills, plants and flowers and the beautiful peacocks including a white one! TRUE LOVE! Rustic is the best way to describe the park. When you arrive check out the unique entry gate that was specifically created for the park through the city’s public art program. The gate has a wagon wheel in the center and movie film canisters on the side that wrap film onto the wagon wheel.

Directions: From Highway 8 Take 805 North. It turns into 5 North. Take exit 44, La Costa Ave Turn Right. Then turn Left onto El Camino Real. Right onto Alga Road. Left onto Melrose Drive. Left onto Carrillo Way. Right onto Flying Carrillo Lane.
Please allow yourself enough time to get there by 9:00am. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour. The park gate does not open until 9:00am. Please do not come early as the park opens at 9am and they specifically asked us not to line up in the cul-de-sac at the gate with our cars! I go past the entrance into the neighborhood and park down there until the park opens. There is plenty of time to get ready for the demo if you arrive at 9am.

To get there: From I-8 take exit 4A for CA-163 South for 0.8 miles toward Downtown San Diego. Then take exit 2C for 6th Ave toward University Ave. Then continue on 6th Ave for 1.4 miles. Turn left onto El Prado for 0.4 miles. The walk-in entrance steps are located just past the Museum of Us (Man) on the left. To park your car, continue on El Prado and turn right onto Pan American Rd and then another right just after the end of the Mengei Museum. This will take you to the Alcazar Garden parking lot right next to the gardens. Another larger Balboa Park parking lot located behind the Organ Pavillion.

To get there: From San Diego going north on I-15 N turn right onto Ted Williams Pkwy for 2.5 miles, use the right 2 lanes to turn right onto Twin Peaks Rd for 1.1 miles, turn right onto Community Rd for 0.2 miles, turn left onto Aubrey St for 0.3 miles, turn right onto Midland Rd to just beyond Temple St to find the public parking lot for part visitors.
