Learn how to use the Principles and Elements of Design to plan and paint strong and powerful abstract paintings. We will review the principles of Design and their importance in planning and evaluating your work. You will learn how to use each element as a tool to build your paintings. Techniques to develop good design will be taught. You will learn to will use line, shape, color, value and texture to make your paintings exciting. Step by step instructions will be given for a no fail abstract with lots of WOW FACTOR.
Watercolor and/or Acrylic along with other mixed media may be used. Your choice of medium - use what you are most comfortable with.
You will receive a digital “Design Workbook” to use in class or as a future reference. Examples of how design is used in art will be explained. You will learn how to critique your own work using Principles and Elements of Design.

I am an abstract artist working in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. My paintings are organic in nature full of texture and line. I use a spontaneous approach, letting the medium “do its thing” and then apply design principles to bring it together.
