A full 37 artists from the San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) had works accepted into the Fine Arts display at the Del Mar Fair in 2023. There were 77 works accepted into 13 categories of 2-dimensional paintings, and 30 of those works garnered awards. Susan Keith had the most paintings accepted (6) and also received the most awards (3); she was followed closely by Ralph Kingery who had 4 works accepted winning 2 awards.

There were 5 first awards in separate categories, won by Susan Keith (2), Ralph Kingery (1), Lorri Lynch, and Joanne Newman (1). The award-winning paintings are shown below.
Luis Juarez, Stephanie Van Der Wetering and Jami Wright each won second place award in distinct categories. The award-winning paintings are shown below. Luis Juarez also won a Donated Award from the Escondido Arts Association for his second place painting.
Eight artists won third place awards in distinct categories: Lynette Bredow, Peggy Fedorchak, Ralph Kingery, Wendy Kwasny, Lorri Lynch, Marjam Schippers, Mark Smith, and Ann Walker. Images of the awarded paintings that were available are below.
Honorable Mentions were awarded to Lois Althearn, Lynette Bredow, Mary Sue Compton, Petty Fedorchak, Hiroko Fisher, Martha Grim, Susan Keith, Carol Mansfield, Mirjam Schippers, Mark Smith, Sherry Roper, Scott Trimlett, and Ann Walker. Images of the paintings that were available are shown below.
Trimlett’s painting also won a Donated Award from the SDWS. Mansfield’s painting also took home a special Coordinator’s Award.
Finally, Drew Bandish won A Donated Award from Logan Graphics Products. The winning painting is shown below.
