Every year, the San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) hosts an International Exhibition, featuring artists in water-based media from around the world. The 43rd International Exhibition is now open at the SDWS gallery at 2825 Dewey Rd, Suite 105 (Building 202) in San Diego’s Liberty Station. During the month of October, the gallery will be open every day from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
An interview with one of the show’s coordinators was aired on Sunday October 1 on KSON, KYXY, Sunny 98.1, alt949 and 973thefanSD. If you missed it, you can hear the interview from one of these news outlets here:

Roberta Dyer told the interviewer that 530 artists entered paintings from over 20 countries. Over 800 paintings were submitted, as each artist was able to enter up to 3 paintings. Of those, 105 paintings were chosen by juror Stephen Zhang to be in the exhibition. Zhang also chose 27 paintings to receive awards. The awards included $27,000.00 in both cash and merchandise awards.
Dyer also mentioned the diversity in the show. You will see art presented in many different styles, and representing subject matter ranging from portraits, animals, landscapes, seascapes, abstracts, and many more. Due to the great talent of the artists, and to the highly selective jurying process, the works displayed in the gallery are of exceptionally high quality.
The 43rd International Exhibition is displayed at the gallery and on the SDWS website for the month of October only. All paintings are for sale, both from the gallery and online. View the show online at
